Apexel is a well-respected name in clip-on phone lenses and the now discontinued x18 macro lens was extremely popular. This 100mm macro unit is a step up and provides a feature that is hard to find in many other clip-on lenses. Often, with most clip-on macro lenses your shooting distance is between 1-3cm, which can be challenging to not shade out or scare off your subject. The Apexel 100mm macro pushes that distance out to almost 7cm. Of course, the greater distance from the subject does require steady hands or a tripod where feasible.
So if you want a low distortion macro that gives you some extra distance on your subject then this is a great option to consider.

I have tried lots of macro lenses for smart phones and this lens is the clearest, sharpest, least distorted one I am yet to find.
Best results for any macro is to get the supplemental lens as close as possible and centred as possible to your camera lens. Focal point and exact magnification will vary depending on the model of your phone but expect to find this in the 5 to 7.5cm range.
All macro lenses, whether it is a DSLR lens or a phone lens, will have a small ‘depth of field’ . The greater the magnification the shallower the focussed field will be. This lens strikes an excellent balance of magnification and depth of field
